Vinegar has strong cleaning and antimicrobial properties. Our vinegar is 100% natural and vegan, which means it is not made from petroleum or treated with bone meal.

Citric acid is a natural biodegradable ingredient that helps balance the pH of our products. Citric acid is obtained from citrus peels.

Sodium benzoate is a naturally occurring antibacterial and antifungal preservative found in blueberries, apricots, mushrooms and cinnamon for example. It is mainly used in food industires and cosmetics. Mulieres products have a tiny amount of this.

Potassium sorbate is a natural preservative obtained by a chemical reaction with potassium salt with ascorbic acid. This 100% natural preservative prevents the formation and spread of molds, fungi, bacteria and other microorganisms. It is used in bakery products and for storing packaged goods, fish and meat, wines, vegetable and fruit products.

Rapeseed wax is a GMO-free, biodegradable and carbon-neutral renewable resource that we use to make candles. It is allergen-free and does not produce soot or other toxic compounds while burned. Rapeseed plays an important part in agriculture, as it helps to increase soil fertility between cereal crops.

Olive oil is an excellent food item but it also has very good cleansing properties. It moisturizes the skin and makes it soft like a lovely soft kiss.

Sweet almond oil has a moisturizing and softening effect and is particularly good for dry, sensitive and inflamed skin. Almond oil is part of skin cell renewal process, has an anti-inflammatory effect, soothes sunburns and itching caused by dry skin and is absorbed to the skin very easily.

Coconut oil is a natural fat that is pressed from ripe coconuts. It is moisturizing, softening and nourishing, which is why it is often used in cosmetics. It is also a well known food product and even as a medical remedy.

Parabens, which are the most widely used preservatives. These are endocrine disrupting chemicals that have been linked to cervical and breast cancer. Methyl paraben causes premature aging. That sucks!

Synthetic fragrances that are often used because they are cheaper and more stable. With synthetic fragrances it is impossoble to know which substances are hidden inside them. They can cause allergic reactions and damage the immune system.

Zeolites that are used in detergents to soften water. Zeolites can irritate sensitive skin and are difficult to get out of fabric even with proper with rinsing.

Carboxylates such as NTA and EDTA, which accumulate in the human body and the environment and can cause cancer. These are especially stupid substances!

Phosphonates, which are also water softening agents. These compounds degrade slowly in the environment.

Phosphates used in washing powders and other detergents, which cause overgrowth in seas and other bodies of water. Also crap!

Sulfates such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS), Ammonium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (ALES, Ammonium Lauryl Ether Sulfate) and Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS) used in many detergents, shower gels and shampoos. These substances have been proved to be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes.

Harmful preservatives such as isothiazolinones, which can cause allergic reactions and skin inflammation. They are also associated with mutagenicity and may be neurotoxic. Ew!

Dyes which do not serve any other purpose other than making the products fun and colorful. These, too, can often be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes.

Chlorine, which is irritating to the eyes and the vapors of which may cause drowsiness and dizziness. And not that good kind!

Optical brighteners, which – and this is absolutely true – do not make laundry more white, but create an optical illusion of cleanliness. These compounds are not biodegradable and end up in our general water cycle, accumulating in marine organisms. In humans, they can cause irritation and increase sensitivity to sunlight.
