For business

Is your office green?

Green walls or an office full of houseplants do not yet make a green office. An office is truly green when it follows the Green Office principle – and that can also start with what the coffee cups and desks are cleaned with.

The Green Office principle

An office is truly green when…

Green walls and plants look lovely, but a green office is made by everyday choices.

  1.
01

    Resources are used sparingly

Electricity, water and heating are consumed sparingly.

  2.
02

    Waste is sorted

    The office sorts its waste.

  3.
03

    Commuting is sustainable

People use sustainable means of transport to get to work.

  4.
04

    Purchasing is responsible

Goods and services are chosen for their environmental friendliness.

A third of every working day

Green choices are easy at home. What about the office?

At home it is easy to serve local food, use natural cleaning products and sort the rubbish. At the office, where we spend about a third of every working day, agreeing on it is harder – and the bigger the office, the harder it gets.

But big words can start with small things: what the coffee cups, desks and floors are cleaned with, and whether the hand soap is good for both people and nature. And every employee should have a say in these decisions.
